Bernice 'Bernie' Syndergaard, the daughter of Charles and Lorene (Noethe) Streufert, was born January 6, 1928 on a farm north of Sutherland, IA. Her entire life was spent in Sutherland, where she received her education, graduating from Sutherland High School in 1945.
Bernie married Robert 'Bob' Syndergaard on September 30, 1948 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sutherland. After their marriage, they farmed north of Sutherland. She raised her boys and worked as a farm wife for several years from 1949 until their retirement in 1978. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sutherland and was active in the St. Ann's Guild Church Women's Group. Bernie and Bob also enjoyed fishing and camping at their lake home in Miller's Bay at the lakes.
She passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at the age of 87. Bernie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; one son, Mike an infant daughter, Dianne and one brother, Jim.
Left to cherish her memory are one son, Phil and special friend, Dianne; a daughter-in-law, Jody; four grandchildren: Shawn and his wife, Lindsey and children: Carson and Landon; Alison and her husband, Kyle Huckaby; Kaleb and his wife, Keri and their children: Chase and Baylee; and Jarod; her close friend, Ruth Moermond; other relatives and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sutherland.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sutherland.

VISITATION
Visitation for the public will be held from 3 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday October 14 at the Warner Funeral Home in Sutherland. The family WILL NOT be present at this time. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the services at the church Thursday with the family present.
