Bernice Edna Udorvich, the daughter of Fredrich and Dora Lager Westerman, was born May 14, 1920 in Bingham Lake, MN. Her childhood years were spent in Mountain Lake, MN and later moved to Arcadia, IA, where she attended and graduated from Arcadia High School. After graduating from high school, she moved to Sioux City and received her degree at a business school.
Bernice married Nick Udorvich on November 20, 1953 in Sioux City, Iowa. After their marriage, they made their home in Sioux City, Iowa, where she worked as a secretary at the Sioux City Stockyards for 10 years. She thoroughly enjoyed working for the three partners at the Stockyards (Brown, Goff and Foster). They moved to Spencer, Iowa where Nick and her purchased Lindsay Soft Water and she worked as a secretary for 10 years, and later worked at St. Luke Lutheran Home in the office until her retirement. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Spencer, where she was active with the CWF. Bernice also enjoyed dancing, bowling, and especially cooking and feeding her relatives, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Udorvich passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters: Effie Stadtlander, Helen Chapman and Evelyn Eickholt and a brother, Lester Westerman.
She is survived by her husband, Nick of Spencer; one son, David and his wife, Kathy Udorvich of Cedar Park, TX; one daughter, Debra and her husband, Craig Hinkeldey of Spencer, IA; 2 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 1:30 P.M. at the First Christian Church in Spencer, Iowa.
