Bertha Magdeline Abele

September 24, 1922 — May 24, 2008

Bertha Magdeline Abele, the daughter of John and Augusta Thiessen Schacht, was born September 24, 1922 in Germany. Her childhood years were spent in Peterson, Iowa, where she received her education, graduating in 1942. Bertha married Robert Lewis Abele in Spencer, Iowa. To this union, one son was born, John. Bertha moved to Spencer, Iowa in 1948. She did housecleaning, worked as a waitress and was a hairdresser for many years, until her retirement. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Spencer. Bertha was also a member of the Eagle's Club and enjoyed gardening and raising flowers. Bertha passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Marga Clucker. Left to cherish her memory are one son, John Abele of Spencer; one sister, Esther Klitt and her husband, Earl of Michigan; other relatives and friends.

SERVICES

Funeral Servives will be held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.

Visitation will begin 3:00 P.M., Tuesday with the family present from 6 to 7:30P.M., Tuesday Evening at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
