Bessie Brinkley, daughter of Clarence S. Harris and Julia C. (Mills) Harris was born August 14, 1928 in Lake Township. She received her education at Lake Center Schools. She taught in Clay County rural schools.
Bessie met a handsome man, Laverne Brinkley at a box social and they were married May 28, 1950 at Langdon Methodist Church. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Spencer area. After they retired from farming, she worked in the kitchen at the Spencer Hospital for 18 years. She was a 4H leader and member of the Langdon Methodist Church.
Bessie passed away on January 4, 2021 at the Pineview Assisted Living in Windom, MN at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; infant son, Larry; daughter, Kathy; two infant great grandsons, Abel and Bennett Griebel; sisters, Flora Seidel and Alma Mathews; brother, Lee Harris and several in-law’s.
She is survived by daughters: Nancy Marsh of Windom, MN, Patsy (Keith) Jacobs of Sanborn, IA, Margie (Todd) Eriksen of Webb City, MO and Jenny (Todd) Laddusaw of Inver Grove Heights, MN; grandchildren: Paul (Tashia) Marsh, Travis Marsh, Chris (Jessica) Marsh, Stephanie (Dillon) Griebel, Amy Jacobs, Ashley (Jesse) Weddle, Samantha (Chad) Williams, Eliana Laddusaw, Isaac Laddusaw and Liam Laddusaw; 10 great grandchildren and sisters, Alvera Seidel and Mary Bricker.
