Betty Ann Dougherty, the daughter of Roy and Violet Peterson Kolkind, was born March 28, 1930, in Menomonie, Wisconsin. She attended Shadylawn School until the 8th grade, Betty then was bused to an agriculture school where she graduated. Following her schooling, Betty continued to live on the farm and worked at Parker Penn.
Betty married Bill Husby on June 18, 1948, in Menomonie, Wisconsin. To this union were born two children, Jeffery and Lorie. She later married Tom Dougherty, to this union one son, Tom Jr. was born. Following her marriage to Tom, they lived in Northfield, Minnesota, where she worked at Brockway Glass, Northfield Newspaper and Riteway. Betty retired at the age of 65. She then moved to Spencer, Iowa, in October 2010. Betty lived at Keelson Harbor, and for the past two years, she was a resident of Hawkeye Care Center.
Betty passed away at the Hawkeye Care Center in Milford, Iowa, at the age of 86. She is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Jeff Husby on June 19, 2011, and Tom Dougherty Jr. on August 16, 2003; one great-granddaughter, Evelyn Ketcham on April 11, 2013; her twin brother, Bert Peterson on May 19, 2001.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorie (Bob) Peters of Spencer, IA; daughter-in-law, Clohe Husby of Spencer, IA; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; her sister, Goldie Wolfe of Menomonie, WI; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Friday, February 17, 2017, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer.
