Betty J. Nystrom

Betty Jane Nystrom, the daughter of Charles and Nellie (Davis) Turner was born on February 4, 1931, in Iowa City, IA. Betty was raised and received her early education in Spencer, graduating from Spencer High School in 1949. Following graduation, she attended Business School in Minneapolis, MN, for one year. She then moved to California and worked for Alcoa. On February 12, 1954, Betty married Bertil Nystrom in Long Beach, CA. Following their marriage they lived in California and then Chicago for a year before moving to Spencer in 1955. Betty and her husband owned and operated B & B Cottages in Arnolds Park and she also worked part-time for the telephone company in Spencer. In 1965 they sold their business and she worked at Sears until retiring in 1994. Betty enjoyed playing cards, knitting, cross-stitching and was a very talented artist and painter. Betty loved to spend time with her friends and was a very loving and devoted grandmother. Betty passed away on August 27, 2008, at the Lakes Regional Health Care in Spirit Lake, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bertil of Wahpeton, IA; three sons: Brian and his wife, Robin of Jackson WY, Bruce and his wife, Holly of Wahpeton, IA, and Bradley of Hamburg, Germany; five grandchildren: Adam, Jack, Lucy, Benjamin and Charles; six great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00p.m., Friday, August 29, 2008 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.

Visitation will be held on hour prior to the service.

Cremation will take place following the service.
