Betty Joan Koster- Nellis

Betty Joan Koster-Nellis, the daughter of Raymond and Magdeline (Dunn) Anderson was born in Wauseka, MN on November 6, 1932. Her childhood years were spent in the Everly, IA area where she attended school and graduated from Everly High School. Betty married William Mealman, of Hartley, IA, on June 19, 1949, in Spencer, IA, and made their home in the Spencer area. To this union, her four children were born. She married Elmer Koster on February 13, 1965, in Spencer, IA, where they lived until moving to Royal, IA. She then married Leroy Nellis on September 15, 2001, and lived in Royal, IA. Betty worked as a nurse aid at the Spencer Hospital; a seamstress at Stylecraft in Milford, IA; and a cook, teacher's aide and librarian at the Royal schools. She enjoyed reading, music, and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of St. Stephen Episcopal Church in Spencer, IA, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal, IA. Betty passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Prairie View Home in Sanborn, IA, at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her parents; her three husbands; and one brother, Richard Anderson. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kathy (Rolf) Carlson of Spirit Lake, IA, Bonnie (L. Mac) McEachern, of Lawton, OK, Dan Mealman of Milford, IA, and Joe Mealman of Tipton, IA; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Pete Jepsen of Terril, IA; two sisters, Audrey Howe of Camdenton, MO, and Diane Nickleson of California; other relatives and many friends.
