Betty 'Lorene' Hanson

Betty 'Lorene' Hanson, the daughter of Leon and Wilma Alexander Baldwin, was born July 1, 1923, in Barron, WI. She received her early education and graduated from the Barron High School. Lorene married Leo Kenneth Hanson on March 20, 1941. To this union seven children were born. They moved to Iowa in 1950, where they farmed northeast of Spencer until 1992 when they moved to 711 E. 17th St. in Spencer. She was an active member of the Langdon United Methodist Church serving in the United Methodist Women's Club. Lorene enjoyed fishing with her husband, embroidering and baking. She prided herself for being known as the 'Pie Lady.' She enjoyed entering many baked items in the Clay County Fair receiving several Blue Ribbons. Lorene passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer at the age of 92. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo; son, Kenneth, Jr.; two sons-in-law: Ozzie Mann and George Larsen; one sister, Leona Smith and one brother, Robert Baldwin. She is survived by her daughters: Beverly Ann and husband, Bill Cabot, of Issaquah, WA, Cheryl Larsen of Plymouth, MN, Linda Mann and fiance, Tim Menke of Cherokee, IA, and Kathy and husband, Rick Klinker of Atlanta, GA; two sons: Lanny Hanson and wife, Nancy of Spencer, IA, and Bob Hanson and wife, Sally of Milford, IA; 18 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Eleanor Chermack and husband, Rudy of Seattle, WA; three brothers: Richard Baldwin of Entiat, WA, Leon Baldwin, Jr. and wife, Ruth of Florence, AZ, and Harry Baldwin and wife, Shirley of Hot Springs Village, AR; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
