Betty Louise Ludwig

Betty Louise Ludwig was born on January 7th, 1948 to Paul Brewster and Dorthea Mae Christenson. She grew up in Laurens and graduated from Laurens High School. Betty was active in 4-H and played the accordion in the high school band.

After High School, Betty attended beauty school. She would later work side by side with Cynthia for many years. Betty married Douglas Cheevers and to this union, her only child Kurt was born.

Betty became a volunteer EMT for the Sioux Rapids Ambulance. She served there for 35 years. Many friendships and memories were formed through her years with the Ambulance.

Betty then married Duane “Dewey” Ludwig. To this union she was blessed with 7 stepchildren, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. They enjoyed many adventures and trips together over their years together. 

Betty began working as an EMT for the BV County Hospital, where she became an EMT-I. While working there, she was led to her dream job as a respiratory therapist at the BV County Hospital. 

Betty loved to work and stay very busy. She was also an avid bowler; she bowled on a league for several years and went to many tournaments. Her biggest joys in life called her “Grandma”. Betty was very generous and loved those close to her with everything she had. 

Betty was surrounded by her family when she lost her battle with chronic kidney disease on March 1st, 2025. Those waiting for her in heaven are her parents; her brother Bruce; and her husband Dewey.

Left to cherish her memory are her son Kurt (Sheli) Cheevers and their children; Summer (Manuel) Magana, Xander and Audra Cheevers; Mark (LaVonne) Ludwig and their children: Bryan (Lisa) Ludwig; Sara (Pat) McColloch; Zack (Jessica) Ludwig; Kristina (Matt) Pentz; Jeff (Ann) Ludwig; Paul (Barb) Ludwig and their children: Jared Ludwig and Nathan (Rebecca) Ludwig; Sue (Brian) Westfall and their children: Kimber (John) Collins Florian; Casey (Aubrey) Collins; Melissa (Joe) Carle; Christopher Westfall; Carol (Steve) Haldin and their children: Greg (Billie Jo) Haldin; Scott (Andrea) Haldin; Angela (Matt) Friedrich; Jane (Rob) Nielsen and their children: Luke (Brooke) Nielsen; Lacey (Lee) Anderson; Kurt (Amanda) Ludwig and their children: Kaitlyn and Jocelyn Ludwig; Nephew Paul (Kris) Brewster, many great grandchildren and friends.
