Betty Marie DeVos, the daughter of Byron and Eunice (Bowie) Lyle, was born on April 21, 1921, in Sioux City, Iowa. She was raised in Sioux City and graduated from East High School. She then attended Wayne State and received a Teachers Certificate.
While teaching in Ireton, Betty met Bill at a dance and on October 28, 1942, Betty married William DeVos in Lawton, Iowa. Following her marriage, she returned to Sioux City, while Bill was in the military. After his service in the military, they lived in LeMars where they raised their children and she did substitute teaching. The couple retired in Heber Springs, AR, where she volunteered at the Women's Abuse Shelter. She was also active in church throughout the years as well as the Eastern Star. Betty liked to talk to people and was always offering support and encouragement. She enjoyed long walks, but most of all she liked to spend time with her family.
She passed away on February 2, 2016, at St. Luke Lutheran Home at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her parents and her brother, Gaylord.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: William and his wife, Randa of Murphy, TX and James and his wife, Wynne of Estherville, IA; one daughter, Pamela Perata and her husband, David of Ruthven, IA; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends

Graveside Services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 19, at the Riverside Cemetery Columbarium in Spencer.
