Spencer

Beverly Carol Kenobbie, the daughter of Wesley and Margaret (Porter) Bryan, was born January 7, 1940 in Spencer, Iowa.  She received her (1st - 12th grade) education at Greenville-Rossie Consolidated School.

In her younger years, Bev was involved in 4-H, class plays, choir, annual staff & cheerleading. It was there Bev met the love of her life, Blaine Kenobbie. They graduated together in the Class of 1957 as High School sweethearts.

After HS, Beverly attended Business school in Omaha, Neb. After graduating she worked for the Bell Telephone Co. in Des Moines, Ia, then moved back home and took a job at the Beehive in Spencer, Ia.  On June 28, 1959, Blaine and Beverly were united in marriage at the Congregational Church in Sioux Rapids, Iowa.  They were blessed with four children: Randy, Carol, Roger, and Roy.  In her younger days, Bev loved to sew making all of her own clothes.  Then in later years her sewing became crafty items and quilts. Bev was a great cook and loved to bake. She often joked, “The problem is I like to eat the goodies too much!” While farming and raising livestock, Blaine and Bev lived in Greenville, Gillett Grove, and Webb. In July 1969, they settled on a farm northwest of Laurens, Iowa.  Here they spent 17 years raising their family, farming, milking cows and raising livestock. Bev loved to be serenaded by Blaine and his guitar, singing along with him and the kids. They enjoyed square dancing, card club and were active in the First Baptist Church in Webb. Her love of the Lord was evident through her devotion to her church and family, raising their children to love & follow Jesus.

In the spring of 1986, they made the big move west to South Dakota taking everything, machinery and cattle included.  For the next nine years, they lived in various places raising cattle and farming.

In 1996, they purchased their own land near Reliance, SD. While there Bev took pride in being the curator of the Presho Museum in Presho, SD. She was a member of the Historical Society and wrote articles for the local paper. She was very active in the Methodist Church in Kennebec.  Bev had an interest in Geneology that developed into quite a huge project. She traced both the Bryan and Kenobbie families back multiple generations to England and Germany. Her research expanded to both of her parents sides of her family also.  She took great pride in the family heirlooms she created for all of her descendants to cherish.

March 1st, 2017 Bev moved to the Methodist Manor in Storm Lake, Ia. In November she moved back home with the assistance of a home health provider. Then in June 2018 Bev moved into the Platte Care Center. After Blaine’s passing Bev decided to move to St Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Ia. Everywhere Bev lived she brought joy with her huge smile, contagious laugh and wonderful sense of humor. She was nicknamed “Miss Hollywood” because of her colorful sunglasses she always wore. She made friends everywhere she went and was loved by all!

Beverly went to live with Christ forever on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the age of 79 while at St Luke.  She was preceded in death by her parents: Wesley and Margaret Bryan; her in-laws: Bernerd and Tressie Kenobbie; her husband, Blaine in September of 2018; one brother, Donald, two sister-in-laws Karen Kenobbie and Judy Kenobbie, one brother-in-law, Ray Beasley, niece Valerie Wilson, daughter-in-law, Tammy Kenobbie, grandson-in-law Cole Buchholz.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Randy (Deb) Kenobbie of Laurens, IA, Carol (Scott) Banks of Spencer, IA, Roger Kenobbie of Reliance, SD, (fiance Ginger Olds) and Roy (Marcia) Kenobbie of Hot Springs, SD; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ron (June) Bryan of Storm Lake, IA; one sister-in-law, Linda Bryan of Spencer, IA, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
