Beverly Jean Sandvig

     Beverly Jean Sandvig, the daughter of George and Lola (Putnam) Petersen was born June 26, 1937 in Laurens, IA. Her childhood years were spent in the Laurens and Marathon, IA area, where she attended school and graduated from Marathon Consolidated High School in 1955.

     Beverly married Eugene Homer Sandvig on October 1, 1955 in Jackson, MN. They made their home in Marathon while raising their children. In 1974 Beverly became employed with The Citizen’s State Bank in Marathon where she also did income taxes. She continued her banking career with Community State Bank after the two banks merged, retiring in 2004.

     Beverly enjoyed “the simple life” fishing, camping, gardening, bird watching, especially watching for Cardinals, and going to her grandchildren’s activities. She loved to crochet, quilt, and sew. Making pajamas for her grandchildren was a favorite. She was a member of United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women of Marathon and served on several committees that helped the community. They moved to Spencer, IA in 2015.

     Beverly passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Home in Spencer, IA at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her parents and a great-grandson, Luke Aronson.

     Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband, Gene of 65 years; her 4 children Rick (Sally) Sandvig of Spencer, IA Pat (Jeff) MacGregor of Spencer, IA, Connie (Larry) Aronson of Hudson, IA and Randy Sandvig (Cathy) of Rockwell, TX; 14 grandchildren, Bobby (Brandy) Sandvig, Mike Sandvig, Sarah (Bryan) Larson, Amy MacGregor (Aaron), Tracie (Joe) Call, Jodi MacGregor, Andy (Lindsey) Aronson, Brian (Tiffany) Aronson, Kyle (Becca) Aronson, Bradley Aronson, Abby Sandvig, Maddie Sandvig, and Brenner Sandvig; 13 great-grandchildren, Brysen Sandvig, Easton Larson, Isaiah Gallegos, Ali Call, Camdyn, Brant, and Halle Aronson, Brooke, Maya, and Cara Aronson, Berkley, Callahan, and Wells Aronson; one brother, Dwaine Petersen of Spencer, IA; one sister, Janet (Keith) Struss of Albert City, IA; niece Mindy Struss (Eric) Trenton and Sawyer and nephew Rob (Katie) Struss Violet and Lark; other relatives; and many friends.
