Beverly Joan Johnson, the daughter of Joseph and Loretta (Kindred) Fasbender, was born August 22, 1931 in Lake City, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Lake City, Cylinder and then Spencer in her youth where she has lived ever since. Bev received most of her education in Spencer and graduated from Spencer High School.
On January 29, 1949, Beverly married Marvin Johnson in Jackson, MN. Throughout their marriage, they have made their home in Spencer, where she was able to be a stay at home Mom before later working for a number of years in retail sales.
Throughout the years she worked for JC Penney downtown, Ellerbroek’s, Stage and later JC Penney’s South Park Mall until her retirement. She was a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. She enjoyed reading, getting together with her JC Penney’s friends, going for walks, spending time visiting friends and staying in touch with all the grandchildren attending their activities when she was able to.
Bev passed away at her home in Spencer on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin in 1992 and a son-in-law, Thomas Slawson.
Left to cherish her memory are 4 daughters: Linda (Alan) Miller, Toni Corcoran, Cody Slawson and Gina Ean all of Spencer; one son, Jan (Anne) Johnson of Walford, IA; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren & 4 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
