Bobbie Rae Menke Sr., the son of William and Marie Kammerer Menke, was born September 26, 1931, in Gaza, IA and later moved to Primghar, IA where his parents owned a farm. He received his education and graduated from the Primghar High School in 1950. Bobbie enjoyed sports and played high school football. He joined the Army in January of 1951 and served as a Private 1st Class, until his honorable discharge in 1953.
Bobbie married Patricia Wilson on December 4, 1981 in Sioux Falls, SD. Following their marriage, they made their home in Royal. Patricia passed away on October 17, 1994. On July 21, 1997, Bobbie married Rose Winter in Sioux Falls, SD. Bobbie made his life with his wife Rose in Royal, later they moved to Everly. They spent many happy and memorable years there together. Bob was employed with Mugge Farms. He also worked at the Spencer Pack and Maurer's.
Bobbie passed away September 3, 2009, at the Sanford Sheldon Hospital in Sheldon, IA at the age of 77. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters: Mildred Slinger and Marie Menke, one brother, Roy Menke.
He is survived by his wife Rose of Everly; his children: Glennis Halverson & her husband, Kent of Alta, IA, Mike Menke & his partner, Brian Schmidt of Inwood, IA, Rick Menke & his wife, Denise of Churdan, IA, Bob Menke Jr. & his friend, Cheri Krout of Dickens, IA, Sheila Menke of Everly, IA, Jerry Menke & his wife, Donneta of Spencer, IA, Sherry Nelson & her special friend Jenny of George, IA; grandchildren: Tara Meyer & husband, Matt, Garrett, Melissa Muckey & husband, Luke, Cody, Miranda, Mackenzie, Joe, Ali, Larisa and Austin; step-children: Tammy Falline & husband, Doug, Pamela Blair & husband Dale, Trudy Hoffman, Patricia Doyle & husband, Stacy, Justin, Tasha & husband, Darren Rutter, Ashley & husband, Kyle Vogt, Braden, Brooke, Ben, Brandy & husband, Roger Clark, Tessa, Dustin, Devin, Dylan and Daisie; great grandchildren: Ryan, Madelyn, Laura, Blake, Derek and Dexter; siblings: Delmar Menke & wife, Lou of Pequot Lake, MN; Jean Menke of Clarion, IA, Bonnie Crosser & husband, Sam of Spencer, IA; many other relatives and friends.
Bob loved to go fishing and relax, especially with his grandchildren. He also loved playing cards and taking road trips with his wife Rose. Bob also found great enjoyment in farming throughout his life. Bobbie will be dearly missed by many.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Everly.
Military services will be conducted by Everett Boyles, Jr. Post #414 - American Legion of Everly, Iowa following the graveside services
