Bonnie Lee Schoelerman (Pfitzenmaier) daughter of Art and Loena (Powell) Pfitzenmaier, was born at home on April 29, 1932, in Primghar IA. She spent her childhood years on a farm South of Hartley, IA. She attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Hartley High School with the class of 1950.
After graduation she married her high school sweetheart Fred Schoelerman on Christmas Eve of 1950, and together they made their home and farmed near Hartley, where they were blessed with 3 children, a son Roger and 2 daughters Linda and Lori.
After moving to town in 1973, she worked at the flower shop, the bakery, and later the grocery store. She also spent many years attending her family’s school activities. Bonnie and Fred were members of a square dance club in the earlier years of their marriage. Bonnie enjoyed gardening and watching her flowers grow, feeding the birds and squirrels, and waiting for friends and family to drop by for a chat. Bonnie was a life-long member of the Trinity United Church of Christ where she spent time as a youth group leader, and she loved her church and church family.
Bonnie passed away on Friday, May 29, 2020 at the age of 88 at the Spencer Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Fred; and her sister Jean Knight.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Roger (Lynn) Schoelerman of Des Moines, Linda Moritz (Ron Hartwig) of Spirit Lake and Lori (Alan) Erichsen of Hartley; 10 grandchildren: Nicole Allen, David (Brandy) Schoelerman, Jennifer (Todd) Dykstra, Brent (Brenda) Moritz, Bradley (Sara) Moritz, Brian (Cathy) Moritz, Evan (Jenny) Erichsen, Seth (Holly) Erichsen, Vanessa (Kevin) Klein, and Shelby (Brendan) Scroggin; 26 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: June (Ronald) Hubbard, Shirley (Wayne) Peters; other relatives and many friends.
