Bonnie Lou O'Hara

October 16, 1930 — April 10, 2017

Bonnie Lou O'Hara, was born on October 16, 1930 to George Dickman and Nina Wilson in Melvin, IA. At an early age she moved to Spencer, where she went to school graduating with the great class of 1948. In 1950 she married and some years later she divorced. She was blessed with three awesome children: Rockne Jay, Vikki Ann and Robert Mark. She loved going to the Casino, where she alway thought 'I'm going to hit The Big One'; of course it never happened. She did hit the jackpot with her two daughters-in-law, Cyndi and Shelly and her son-in-law, Roger. They all babied her and she adored them. She was a waitress most of her life. In the seventies she owned her own bar and grill with Les Buchholz. She was honored to be 'Boss of the Year' by the Jaycees back then. In her younger years she loved to dance, especially going to Lake Okoboji and dancing at the Roof Garden. If there's such a thing as reincarnation, she wanted to come back as a Radio Music City Hall Rockette or a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader. Even though she was a diehard Green Bay Packer Fan, Dallas had the best cheerleaders. She also loved the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Spencer Tigers. It's like dying a thousand times when they lose. Bonnie also managed an apartment building for 30 years. During that time Steve Waller, who was the Secretary/Treasurer at the Masonic Temple helped her. He became her third son, and she always kidded him that they were together longer than either of them were married. 'Thanks Steve.' Bonnie passed away on April 10, 2017, at Avera Mckennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister and brother-in-law, Cleo and Dusty DeWall and her niece, Darcy Berkel. Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Rockne (Cyndi) of Sioux Rapids, IA, Vikki (Roger) Putnam of Everly, IA and Robert (Shelly) of Spencer, IA; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
