Burton “Butch” Lee Sierck of Spencer, Iowa passed away peacefully at his home on March 11, 2023, at the age of 87.
Butch was the son of Otto & Hortense (Hartman) Sierck and born in Alta, Iowa on December 16, 1935. Butch moved to Spencer, Iowa in June of 1947 and graduated from Spencer High School in 1954. He later married his high school sweetheart, Arlys (Smith) Sierck, on September 21, 1957.
Butch started his career as a Milkman for Jersey Dairy and eventually worked as a mechanic for several local shops including Bud’s Service Inc, Sierck’s Texaco with his son (Tom), Lee Holts, and Asher Motor Company up until his retirement in 2000.
If you knew Butch, you knew he was very dedicated to his community and served on the Spencer Fire Department for 57 years. He enjoyed hanging out with his family and treasured every moment with his grandkids and great grandkids. He was quite the woodworker, creating numerous pieces for his family and friends. Butch’s last creation was an electric train set, which brought a boyhood smile to his face. When he wasn’t busy with projects, he enjoyed going out for coffee, grilling steaks, and a piece of sour cream raisin pie with ice cream.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, siblings Vaunita, Marvin, Robert, Gordon, Lucille & Lois
He is survived by his wife Arlys of 65 years, son Tom (Deb) Sierck, daughter Tammy Sierck all of Spencer, IA and daughter Pam (Dan) Nelson of Missouri Valley, IA. He is survived by three grandchildren David (Meghan) Sierck of Spencer, IA, Jamilee (Evan) Noble of Madrid, IA, and Kayla Nelson and fiancé Troy Sodders of Missouri Valley, IA, seven great grandchildren Bennett, Kynlee, Dawson, Berkley, Gabby, Brayden, and Kashden. He is survived by his sisters Beverly Zahrt & Patricia (Jerry) True of Central Point, many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 24 at Riverside Cemetery

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 23, starting at 5:00 P.M., with family present from 5-7:00 P.M., at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
