Carl Edward Jensen

September 1, 1920 — April 30, 2008

Carl Edward Jensen, the son of Edward Elmer and Mary Maureen Leffler Jensen, was born September 1, 1920 in McCook, NE. He received his early education and graduated from the Holdridge High School in Holdridge, NE. Following his schooling, he entered the U.S. States Army and served from 1944 to 1946 until his honorable discharge. Ed married Phyllis LaVonne Kabrick on May 19, 1941 in Ponca, NE. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer, where he worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Spencer. He was also a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed baseball, basketball, softball, mountain climbing and hiking. Ed passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa on April 30, 2008 at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Phyllis on January 31, 2008; one sister, Carolyn. Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters: Gayen Borgen and her husband, Don of Hackensack, MN, Cheryl Green of Beaverton, OR and Jan Lenhert of Escondido, CA; one son, Dr. Perry Jensen and his wife, Lisa of Temecula, CA; 8 grandchildren: Don, Todd and Tony Borgen, Michelle Wyatt, David and Matthew Green and Nick and Greg Jensen; 7 great grandchildren; one brother, James Jensen and his wife Judy of Colorado; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Spencer.
