Carl Louis Brown

Carl Louis Brown, the son of Allan and Della Brown was born July 9, 1931, in Carroll, Iowa. He was the second oldest of 12 children. He attended Jasper #9 country school through eighth grade, and then attended Lohrville High School, graduating in 1949. Following graduation, Carl attended Iowa State University for two years. Carl married Lois Ellen Johnson on February 21, 1951, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pomeroy, Iowa. Carl started farming the J.E.Wilson farm near Marathon in March, 1951. He also farmed the Ed Sundholm farm near Marathon for 28 years. They moved to Laurens, Iowa, in 1982. Carl continued to farm, and drove school bus for the Laurens-Marathon school for 25 years which he enjoyed very much. He also sold insurance for Midland National Life, and had a passion for fishing, hunting, and traveling as he and Lois traveled extensively around the world all 50 states and over seas. Carl passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg, Iowa, at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allan and Della Brown; two brothers: Harold Gene (in infancy) and Earl Brown of Lohrville, Iowa; one sister, Nina Wiese of Denison, Iowa; and one infant granddaughter, Paige Marie George. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lois, of 60 years; 5 daughters: Jane (Wayne) Larson of Storm Lake, Iowa, Judy (Darrell) Fox of Spencer, Iowa, Nancy (John) Johnson of Lake Mills, Iowa, Nita (Evan) George of Sioux City, Iowa, and Carla Dornsbach of Divide, Colorado; 16 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters: Ruth Davidson of Prole, Iowa; Faye (Don) Root of Scottsbluff, NE, Rita Nesbett of Claremore, OK, Beth (Cliff) Coxbell of Okeechobee, FL, Neva (Bill) Campbell of Prescott, AZ; and 4 brothers: Gary (Betsy) Brown of Churdan, IA, Paul (Sally) Brown of Churdan, IA, Dean (Sherrie) Brown of Rockland, CA, and Loyd (Sue) of Nevada, IA; other nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
