Carlton Oliver Quee, the son of Selmer and Mary (Zishka) Quee, was born August 6, 1923 in Fostoria, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Fostoria, Iowa, where he received his education, later graduating from Okoboji High School.
After his schooling, he entered the military in 1949 and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge in November of 1951. Carlton married Maxine Tolley on May 18, 1949 in Ft. Eustis, VA. After his military discharge, Carlton and Maxine moved back to Spencer, Iowa, where he worked for Evert Roskens Construction for 34 years and later P & H Fixtures as a cabinet maker for 8 years until his retirement in October of 1985. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Spencer. Carlton enjoyed his retirement woodworking and was a member of the National Woodcarvers Association. He was also a member of the American Legion in Spencer.
Carlton passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the age of 95. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine in 2007 and a sister, Mary Quee.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Connie Quee and her husband, Tom Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a brother, Elmer Quee of Clarinda, IA; other relatives and friends.
