In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Carol's name.
Carol Ernest Fries, the son of Ernest and Mae (Lauderbaugh) Fries was born September 30, 1931, in Carthage, MO. His parents passed away when he was young, and good friends of the family, Alva and Ella Trimble, adopted Carol and his brother, Max. He moved with the Trimbles to Lohrville, IA, in 1937, where he attended school and graduated in 1949. In 1952 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served until his Honorable Discharge.
Carol married Linda Gordon on June 10, 1954, in Rockwell City, IA. They moved to Linn Grove, IA, where he started farming. He continued his education, graduating from Buena Vista College in 1966. They moved to Peterson, IA, in 2000, and retired from farming in 2001.
Carol enjoyed farming, photography, bird watching, collecting coins and stamps, watching college football and basketball, especially the Iowa State Cyclones, listening to gospel quartet, attending auctions, fixing things, riding in the PATOOT Tractor Run and going to the lake place. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Peterson, and Heritage Club. Carol had a booth at the Antiques Etc. in Milford, IA, and was a Boy Scout Leader for many years.
Carol passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his parents; his adoptive parents; three brothers: George and Frank Trimble, and Max Fries; half-sister, Anna Mae Wesley; and one niece, Gail Gordon.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Linda, of Peterson, IA; daughter, Elaine (Bill Johnson) Fries of Minneapolis, MN, Cliff, ‘who was like a son’ (Linda Briley) Moller of Houston, TX; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Memorial services will take place 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, June 19, at First Congregational Church in Peterson.
