Carol S. Pearson, the daughter of Ernest and Louise (Brunais) Straub, was born August 22, 1926, in Spencer, Iowa, where she was raised and received her early education, graduating from Spencer High School. After high school she attended Iowa State University where she received a degree in Botany and a minor in English, graduating in 1948. She then moved back to Spencer and worked at Montgomery Ward.
On July 2, 1950, Carol married LeRoy Pearson in Spencer. Following their marriage, they lived in the communities of Spencer, Manilla, Manning, Schaller and Davie, FL. Carol was a homemaker who raised her family and loved spending time with her children. She was very active in the churches where she lived, playing the organ on Sundays. While living in Florida, she worked for the city in the Parks and Recreation Department and organized many activities in the park for thousands of kids. In 1992, the couple returned to Spencer to care for her mother. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary in Spencer. She volunteered at St. Luke Lutheran Home playing the organ on Sundays and conducting sing-a-longs.
She passed away on March 3, 2016, at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa, at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband in 1997.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Ann Lambertus (Martin) of Spencer, IA, Michael Pearson (Kathy) of Marshall, MN, Jennifer Clubine (Mike) of Boone, IA, Jeffrey Pearson of Pampona Beach, FL, Gail Wittry (Kevin) of Jefferson, IA, Steven (Christina) of Tallahassee, FL and David Pearson (Elizabeth) of Douglasville, GA; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
