Carol Grover

Carol V. Grover, the daughter of Carl and Minnie (Hyllested) Anderson, was born March 3, 1919, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Sioux Rapids where she attended school and graduated from Sioux Rapids High School in 1937. Following high school Carol remained in Sioux Rapids where she worked for a minister taking care of his children and helped cook and clean. On October 26, 1940, Carol was united in marriage to Howard Grover in Luverne, MN. To this union, three children were born: Harold, Velita and Carl. Following their marriage they moved to Gillett Grove and lived there for several years. In 1952, they moved to Peterson where they farmed. Following Howard's death in 1980, Carol moved to Lincoln, NE to be closer to family. Presently Carol lived in Alta, IA since 1994. In her free time, Carol enjoyed reading, sewing, garage sales and making clothes for dolls, but most of all Carol enjoyed being around her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On Saturday, August 23, Carol passed away at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, IA at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; her parents; three brothers: Alden, Cyril, and Gordon Anderson; one sister, Eva Murphy; and her son, Harold. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Velita Cox and friend, Ed Peterson of Alta, IA; one son, Carl and Barb Grover of Peterson, IA; four granddaughters: Heidi and Charlie Small of Newell, IA, Jessie and Brad White of Sioux Rapids, IA, Michelle Grover of Seoul, Korea, and Katie Grover and friend, Bill Engwersen of Webb, IA; 5 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
