Carol Hirschy

March 24, 1924 — March 18, 2008

Carol was born in Missouri Valley, Iowa on March 24, 1924 to Clyde and Besse Bixler. Her parents moved to Everly and then Dickens. Carol attended high school in Dickens and she was a very successful basketball player for the team in Dickens. She attended Mitchell College and taught school. In 1946, She married Louis Samuel Hirschy. While living in Estherville, Carol had a kindergarten in her house before it was commonplace in the school system. In her later years, Carol made her home in Spencer with her parents. Carol passed away at the Grundy Care Center on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the age of 83. Carol was predeceased by her former husband and son Samuel. She is survived by her children, Rebecca and Charles and 5 grandchildren, her nephew Larry and her niece Cindy and great-nephews. Carol had a kind and generous heart and will be sorely missed.

SERVICES

Graveside services will be held 1:30 P.M., Monday, March 24, 2008 at Lone Tree Cemetery in Everly.
