Carolyn Dotson

March 21, 1934 — August 5, 2015

Carolyn Rae Dotson, the daughter of Orlo and Cora (Handy) Lockey was born on March 21, 1934, in Spencer, Iowa. She married Gilbert "Tom" Dotson on November 29, 1953, in Arnolds Park, Iowa. One week following their marriage, Tom went to Fort Hood, Texas, to serve in the Army where Carolyn joined him shortly after. They returned home in 1955. A few years later they moved to their acreage west of Spencer, Iowa. To this union two children were born - Steven in 1957, and Jeana in 1959. Carolyn enjoyed fishing on the Ocheyedan River which flows through their property. She also enjoyed camping, her flower garden, and decorative chicken collection displayed in her kitchen. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who enjoyed spending time with her family. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Tom of Spencer; daughter, Jeana (Jim) Joenks of rural Everly, IA; daughter-in-law, Debbie Dotson Zitterich; grandson, Adam Dotson of Spencer, IA; granddaughter, Katie (Justin) Campbell of Spencer, IA; great-grandchildren: Alyssa Dotson, Caitlin, Hannah, Emily and Drew Campbell; sisters: Joan (Irvin) Tatman of Everly, IA, Kay Harshbarger of Spencer, IA, Mary (Gary) Munsen of Lawton, IA, Sandra (Mark) Fodness of Spirit Lake, IA; brother, Bob Lockey and special friend, Lenore of Spencer, IA; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Steven; and sister, Charlotte Lockey. Carolyn passed away on August 5, 2015, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 81. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, August 12, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Spencer.

Visitation will be open after 1:00P.M., Tuesday, with the family present from 6:00-8:00 P.M., Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Spencer.
