Catherine Wyatt

July 3, 1917 — April 2, 2016

Catherine Wyatt of Okoboji, IA passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016 to be with her Lord at the age of 98. What a wonderful life she lived! Cathie served the Lord in so many ways with her generous giving every day, being a role model, her positive attitude on life and her smiles. For her friends she loved to make tapioca pudding, homemade bread and rolls and crispy sugar cookies. Her birds were lavished with grape jelly and oranges. When Cathie was growing up her parents owned a cottage at the lakes so she was a good swimmer and also loved to fish. In her younger days she worked in an exclusive dress shop in Spencer. During the Clay County Fair Cathie looked forward to displaying her dishes & flower arrangements. She loved those blue ribbons! She traveled all around the world with her husbands. To get away from the Iowa winters Kauai, Hawaii was a special place for many years. Even into her 90's you could find her at the golf course hitting the ball and playing an excellent game of bridge there. She was a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church, singing in the choir, a member of the circle, UMW, serving on the flower committee and involved wherever she could help out. Her husband's George Haygarth and Ralph Wyatt preceded her in death as well as her parents, sisters Sabena and Elizabeth, a brother Charles and daughter-in-law Mary Lowe. Catherine is survived by her son Jerry Lowe, sister Wilma, granddaughters Robbie Lowe and Tracy (Todd) Meyer, grandsons Tom (Tiffany) Lowe, Jay (Rhonda) Blanchfield, Dustin (Rose Mary) Blanchfield, eight great grandchildren, one great, great granddaughter and many cherished relatives and friends. The family thanks Barb Lynch, Randy and Lois Eckard and Gary and Denise Tolzmann for the special friendship they had with her in good health and all the loving care after her stroke. The family also thanks Mary Schemmel, Mary Nystrom and all of her neighbors and friends. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Grace United Methodist Church or Hospice of Spencer.
