Charity Jo Chapman

Charity Jo Chapman, was born on May 15, 1980, to Steve and Kay (Wells) Chapman. She grew up in the Laurens-Marathon area where she made lots of friends. She enjoyed doing things with her family and friends. Charity enjoyed doing chuckwagon races whether she was participating or just cheering her family on. Growing up she enjoyed riding horses, playing softball, volleyball, swimming and spending time with her friends and family. She made friends easily for she was an easy person to Love. In March 2002, she married Sean Gray and they had a beautiful baby girl, Morgan Ann in August 2002. In October 2009, she had a beautiful baby boy, Ayen Alexander Gathman. She loved her children, family and friends. She enjoyed watching her children play sports since she also loved the games. She worked at Bobalees in Laurens, Eaton Corporation in Spencer and Nolin Milling in Dickens where she made many friends. Charity enjoyed spending time with her sisters, Windy and Brandy Chapman, along with her nieces, Payge Kelley and Stevy Griffin, and her nephew, Zane Griffin. On August 6, 2016, she was in an accident and taken from her children, family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Morgan Gray; her son, Ayen Gathman; father, Steve Chapman; mother, Kay Wells; 2 sisters: Windy and Brandy Chapman; 2 nieces: Payge Kelley and Stevy Griffin; nephew, Zane Griffin; grandparents: John and Donna Chapman, Jim and Carol Scott and Kenny Grandstaff; many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Jerry Grotzky; uncle Bill Chapman and aunt Cathy Chapman, uncles Richard Wells, Ren and Ranche Grotzky.
