Charles "Charlie" Ray Nelson, the son of Carl and Nora (Anderson) Nelson, was born September 4, 1932 in Storm Lake, Iowa. He grew up on a farm outside of Webb, where he received his education, graduating from Garfield/Webb High School in 1950. Following his schooling, he farmed on the family farm until entering the military in 1953. He served his country proudly with the U.S. Army from 1953, until his honorable discharge in 1955.
Charles married Margaret Kiley on November 27, 1957, in Marathon, IA. Following their marriage, they moved to Spencer, where he worked for Spencer Foods for 20 years. Charlie was employed by Dale Larson in his farming operation for several years. He later worked as a truck driver for Rohlin Construction, which later became Tri-State Construction, for 20 years, until his retirement in 2008. Charles was also an active member of the Dickens American Legion and later the Spencer American Legion. He especially enjoyed his time playing cards, fishing and hunting with friends. He had a lot of good hunting days for both pheasant and duck around the Round Lake and Webb area.
He passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the age of 80. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret in 2008; one grandchild, Jeremy Letsche; one sister, Betty Sharp and her husband, Lloyd and a son-in-law, Kevin Moss.
Left to cherish his memory are one son, Carl "Andy" Nelson of Primghar, IA; a daughter, Peggy Ann Moss of Eagan, MN; 5 grandchildren: Amanda Klein and her husband, Kody and Justin Nelson, Cindy, Scott and Keith Moss; two sisters: Doris Berge of Storm Lake, IA, Lois DeGonda of Chisago City, MN; one brother, Robert Nelson and his wife, Linda of Webb, IA; a daughter-in-law, Sue Juenemann of Sanborn, MN; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, November 7th at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.

Visitation will begin Noon Tuesday, November 6th with the family present from 6 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday Evening at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
