Charles Daniel Mccord

January 16, 1922 — December 16, 2005

Charles Daniel McCord, the son of Charles and Agnes McCord, was born January 16, 1922 in Middlegrove, Illinois. He was raised and received his early education in Farmington, Illinois and later graduated from Farmington High School. Following his schooling, Chuck entered the military in 1942. He retired from the Army in 1966, with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. He was a veteran of World War II and received five Bronze Stars for campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Central Europe and Rhineland, and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, the European African Middle Eastern Theater and the American Theater. Later, he entered the Active Reserves where he was promoted to Warrant Officer. On September 25, 1946, Chuck married Louise Meyer in Illinois. She was the love of his life. Following his military career, Chuck worked in the McCord family business for over 11 years operating a garage and he became a certified mechanic. He later worked for Oldsmobile Motors in Pekin, IL. He then continued to take courses to become an insurance agent. Chuck moved to Spencer in 1996, and worked out of Storm Lake as an insurance investigator. Chuck moved to Florida to be near his niece. Mr. McCord passed away at the Largo Medical Center in Largo, Florida on December 16, 2005 at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Louise. He is survived by his niece, Dannette Lynch of Largo, Florida.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Thursday, January 19, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Spencer.
