Charles Peter Quist

Charles Peter Quist, the son of Charles and Elizabeth (Nielsen) Quist was born December 14, 1917 in Spencer, IA. His childhood years were spent in the Spencer area, where he attended school. After school Charles worked on the family farm his entire life until his retirement. Charles married Edna Bielfeldt in 1940 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. She passed away in 1982. He then married Lucille Groen in 1983 in Hartley, IA. He enjoyed fishing, farming, wood working, reading, and in his later years listening to audio books. Charles was always very proud of his Danish heritage. He always looked forward to judging cattle at the Clay Co. Fair. He was also a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley. Charles passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley at the age of 97. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son Michael; 2 brothers, Robert and Arthur Quist; and one sister Rose Hudson. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Lucille of Hartley, IA; 3 children, David (Pam) Quist of Cadiz, KY, Diane (Bill) Osborne of Milford, IA, and Eric (Jann) Quist of Las Vegas, NV; 3 stepchildren, Rodney Groen of Glendale, AZ, Wayne (Jackie) Groen of Gallatin Gateway, MT, and Lynn Groen of Gulf Breeze, FL; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.
