Charles Clifford Shewmaker, the son of Edd and Rosa (Brake) Shewmaker, was born on March 11, 1913, in Newton, IA. His early years were spent in Webb, IA, where he received his early education and graduated from Webb High School.
Charles married Marjorie Schwarck on September 26, 1943 in Spencer, IA. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Webb area. In 1951 they moved to Laurens, IA, where he continued to farm until his retirement in 1982. The couple then moved to Storm Lake and then Charle's moved San Antonio in 2003. Charles loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar, piano and organ. He was also a member of a band in his early years.
On January 10, 2007, Charles passed away at the Main Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, TX, at the age of 93. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie in 1988; five sisters: Golda Hovinga, Eva Evans, Grace Reavis, Ruth Paine and Marie Lyon and one brother, Jack Brackney.
Left to cherish his memory are his one son, James Brackney Shewmaker and his wife, Susan Kay Dunn of Helotes, TX; one daughter, Janeane Rae Shewmaker and her husband, Brian Lynch of Des Moines, IA ; 2 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; one sister, Betty Baker of Tucson, AZ; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
