Charlotte Ann (Barglof) Amis was born April 9, 1922 to Elmer Albi and Carrie Marie (DeFrain) on the family farm in Greensville, IA. The family moved into Greenville in 1931. Charlotte was involved in school activities, 4-H and youth groups at the Friends Church. Charlotte graduated from Greenville Consolidated School in 1939. Charlotte was a candidate at the Clay County Fair representing MISS GREENVILLE, September, 1939.
Charlotte was united in marriage to Ralph Wesley Amis on October 4, 1940. They farmed in the Greenville and Peterson Areas before moving to Spencer in 1960. She was employed at Swansons Grocery from 1961 until HyVee purchased the store. She continued working for HyVee until her retirement in 1989. Charlotte served as manager of the Bakery Department.
Charlotte was a devoted member of the First Christian Church and Christian Women's Fellowship (CWF).
Upon retirement, Charlotte was kept busy helping and visiting others. Her greatest joy was in her visits with her families in Arizona and Ohio.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her son Ronald Amis, husband Ralph Amis, daughters Carol Burgeson, Dee Amis, daughter-in-law Shirley Amis, and brother Raymond Bargloff.
She is survived by her son Thomas Amis of Spencer, IA; son-in-law Norman Burgeson of Dayton, OH; granddaughters, Kimberly (Andrew) Extine of Chandler, AZ, Kelly (Chris) Roth of Dayton, OH, and Jill (Pat) Bryson of Dayton, OH; grandsons, Michael (Tracy) Burgeson of Powell, OH, and Grant Lewis of Dayton, OH; 7 great-grandchildren, Travis, Zachary, Benjamin, Genevieve, Kyle, Kaden, and Wesley; sisters, Dorothy Ericson of Rogers, AR and Mae Weaver of Spirit Lake, IA.
All who knew Charlotte will remember her kindness, gentleness and loving ways.

Memorial services will take place 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 10, at the First Christian Church in Spencer
