Charlotte Marion (Walstrom) Peterson

    Charlotte Marion (Walstrom) Peterson, the daughter of Walter and Carrie (Hagedorn) Walstrom was born on September 23, 1927 on a farm near Royal in Clay County Iowa.  She attended a rural school and graduated from Rossie High School in 1945.  She worked at Binaks Grocery in Royal before going to Mankato Commercial School.  She then returned to Royal and was the head bookkeeper at the Quaker Oats elevator. 

     On January 26, 1963 she married William Nelson Peterson at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal, Iowa.  She moved to Kenmare ND and was engaged with her husband, William farming for 29 years until their retirement.  Her faith was very important to her being a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church and then as a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Kenmare.  Over the years she participated in alter guide, taught Sunday school and confirmation classes.

      Upon William’s passing in 2012 she moved to Spencer, Iowa to live with her son, David.  In 2017, David and her moved to Sioux Falls SD.  She lived all of her last years with her son, David except for the last 2 weeks of her life.

          Left to cherish her memory are her sons: David and Mark (Deb); granddaughters: Alexandra, Samantha and Mackenzie, all of Sioux Falls, SD; sister, Marjorie Frad;  sister-in-law, Beverly Walstrom; numerous nephews and nieces.

       She was preceded in death by her husband, William, her parents, Walter and Carrie Walstrom; brother, Venard and his wife, Lucile; brother, Virgil; sister, Darlene Petitt and her husband, Bud Pettit and brother-in-law, Bobby Frad.
