Charlotte Ruth Bossinger, the daughter of Melvin and Myrtle Hall Alcorn was born July 8, 1925 in Bradgate, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Ireton, IA, Peterson, IA, Rutland, MN and Fox Lake, MN.
Charlotte married Robert Smith on December 26, 1943, in Defiance, OH. Robert passed away on November 30, 1960. She married William Riggins and later divorced. She married Robert McEwen; he passed away in 1980. She then married Charles Bossinger and later divorced. She worked as a nurse for Hospice and home care until her retirement at 70. She enjoyed crocheting, jigsaw puzzles and leatherwork. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Peterson, IA.
Charlotte passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012, at Longhouse Residence in Spencer, IA, at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Robert Smith and Robert McEwen; her son, Paul Smith; her grandson, David A. Smith; three brothers, Melvin Alcorn Jr., Robert Alcorn, and James Alcorn; 3 sisters, Violet Parsons, Vera Flores, and Erma Robins.
Left to cherish her memory are her 8 children: Robert Smith and wife, Connie of Kansas City, MO, David Smith and wife, Kathy of Charlotte, NC, Lonnie Dube and husband, Al of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Allen Smith of SC, Myrtle Crowe and husband, Curt of Waynesburg, PA, Roberta McEwen of Washington, PA, Mary Ross and husband, Chip of Spencer, IA, and Ruth McEwen of Washington, PA; one sister, Winiferd Cook of Silver Bay, MN; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 7, 2012, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
