Cheryl Lee Riley

     Cheryl Lee Riley was born February 9, 1956, the daughter of Darrell and Elizabeth Blume Swanson.  She spent some of her childhood in Fonda, IA where she attended Catholic School before moving to Denison, IA where she was confirmed at St. Rose of Lima and graduated from Denison High School.

     June 14,1974 Cheryl was united in marriage to Daniel Riley at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church of Denison.  They settled in Spencer, IA where they were blessed with the birth of three children.

     Cheryl created some life long friendships in her 21 years of working for Clay County before retiring in January 2021.

     Cheryl was kind and welcoming, she had never met anyone who was not a friend.  She had so much love for her family and cherished every moment that she had with her loved ones.  She enjoyed her flowers, watching birds, and most of all her grandkids.  One of Cheryl's favorite things to do was summer time picnics on the patio with family followed by hours in the pool.

     Cheryl passed away on Friday November 26, 2021, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 65 surrounded by her beloved family.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her father, Darrell Swanson.

     Left to cherish her memory are her husband Dan of 47 years; her daughters Stephanie (Richard) Garberson of Spencer, Heather (Jorge) Espinosa of Spencer; son Travis Riley of Spencer; six grandchildren Morgan, Emma, Mya, Dominic, Damien, and Yesenia; her mother Elizabeth Swanson of Ankeny; six sisters Rita Swanson of Denison, Roxanne (Bob) Townsend of Denison, Katherine Nielsen of Denison, Joy Plattner of Omaha, NE, Lori (Mark) O'Meara of West DesMoines, Janice Swanson of Oswego, OR; two brothers Alan (Vickie) Swanson of Ankeny, John (Judy) Swanson of Grimes; other relatives and many friends.
