Christine Louise Beck

Christine Louise Beck, the daughter of Elmer and Mary Jane (Saunders) Parsons, was born February 16, 1958 in Spencer, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in the Gillett Grove, Iowa area, where she received her education graduating from South Clay High School in 1976. She later attended and graduated from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa. Chris married Larry Beck on June 10, 1978 in Spencer, IA. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer, where she worked for the Spencer Community School District for the last twenty years of her life as a paraeducator for both elementary and high school students. Since 1998, she worked as a media associate in the library at the Spencer High School. In the past, she also worked on the school yearbook and Iowa Hall of Pride. Chris was an active member of the First Baptist Church, including serving as past director of the AWANA Club, a Sunday school teacher, as well as several other duties in the church. She was current president of the support staff Union U.E. Local 821. Chris also worked as past president of the Iowa Lakes Genealogical Society, and was currently serving as treasurer. While helping students was one of her biggest passions, Chris also enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and reading. Christine passed away at her home in Spencer on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at the age of 51. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Dennis Parsons. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Larry of Spencer; two children: Brianne and Daniel Beck both of San Diego, CA; her mother, Mary Jane Parsons of Webb, IA; her siblings: Tamra (Gary) Riecke of Bigfork, MT, Janeen (Bill) Madson of Webb, IA, Janel (David) Maurer of Spencer,IA, Joel (Tonna) Parsons of Webb, IA and Darryl Parsons of Webb, IA; mother-in-law, Dorothy Beck; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
