Clara E. Mattson

Clara Elaine (Hallett) Mattson, the daughter of Will and Lizzie Robertson was born on January 21, 1919, in Wallace, NE. Clara grew up on a farm north of Grainton, NE. She attended country school and High School in Grainton, NE. Clara was married to Robert Hallett on May 14, 1935. They farmed near Elsie, NE until Bobs's death in 1966, when she moved to Ogallala, NE. The also had to daughters, Janette Fenwick and Evelyn Hughes. She married Mervin Mattson on September 24, 1975 and then moved Holyoke, CO. She spent her last years of her life in Westview Retirement Community in Grant, NE. The Victorian Assisted Living Home in Rapid City, SD and Northshire Assisted Living Home in Spencer, IA. The residence and workers of the homes always gave a glowing account of how she encouraged them by always thanking them for their care of her and her thoughtfulness of her fellow residents. She loved all kinds of animals but was especially fond of cats. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and eating out. Survivors include her daughters and their husbands, Janette Fenwick and her husband, Jerry and Evelyn Hughes and her husband Bill; six grandchildren: James Fenwick and his wife Janet, Jody Kraus, Jill Jehorek and her husband Jake, Jon Fenwick, Carrie Gaul and her husband, Bryon, Roben Edwards and her husband Brian; four great-grandchildren: Riley and Rachel Hilton, Jazmine and Aliza Edwards; her brother-in-law, Everett Kidd; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Robertson; her many nieces and nephews; step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; sister, Evelyn Kidd; 3 brothers: Woodrow Robertson, Frank Robertson and Ralph Robertson in infancy. A memorial service will be held at 10:00a.m., at the Elsie United Methodist Church in Elsie, NE. Interment will be in the Morningview Cemetery in Wallace, NE. A memorial fund has been established with Rainbow Bible Ranch and can be sent to Evelyn Hughes 908 Ave. W., Spencer, Iowa 51301 or Janette Fenwick 1351 Sunnyslope Rd., Brule, NE. 69127.
