Clara Jean Oestenstad

Jean Oestenstad, the daughter of Arthur Roland and Ruth Elaine Kiester Moore, was born December 25, 1929, in Bagley, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Des Moines, Iowa, where she received her education, graduating from Des Moines Valley High School in 1947. Following her schooling, she remained in Des Moines where she worked for a few years. Jean married William R. Scarborough on October 8, 1950, in West Des Moines, IA. Following their marriage, they lived in Des Moines for a short time before moving to Spencer in 1954. The couple divorced while living in Spencer. She married Reider Oestenstad on November 29, 1968 in Jackson, MN. Following their marriage, she continued working as a receptionist for Dr's. Fraser and Jones in Spencer for 23 years until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. Jean volunteered at the Spencer Hospital and RSVP. Throughout her life, Jean enjoyed golfing, crocheting and traveling. Jean passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at the age of 77. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by one daughter and her husband, Karen and Tom Olin of Royal, Iowa; one son, William and his wife, Mary Ellen Scarborough of Omaha, NE; five grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 23, at the Warner Chapel, Spencer, Iowa.
OFFICIATING
Rev. Paul Hansen will officiate.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 22, with the family present 2 - 4:00 at the Warner Funeral Home, Spencer, Iowa.
