Clara Merlene Somers

August 2, 1915 — May 24, 2014

Clara Merlene Somers, the daughter of Merill and Lena (Case) Banks was born August 2, 1915 in Langdon, Iowa. She attended Spencer Schools, graduating from Spencer High School in 1934. Clara married Harley Somers on December 3, 1950. She worked as the head salad lady for a hospital in Pittsburg, Kansas. She moved to Des Moines, Iowa where she worked in a nursing home, before retiring and moving to Hartley, Iowa in 1992. Clara enjoyed reading, crocheting, and spending time with family. She was also a member of First Christian Church in Spencer. Clara passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Primghar Care Center in Primghar, Iowa at the age of 98. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harley; and an infant brother, Donald. Left to cherish her memory are one sister, Helen Brigham of Spencer, Iowa; one brother, Raymond Banks, of Spencer, Iowa; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.

SERVICES

Memorial services will take place 10:30 A.M., Friday, May 30, at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
