Cleone Faye (Klett) Farquhar, the daughter of Charles and Mabel (Hakeman) Klett, was born September 20, 1922 on a farm near Lake Park, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent on the farm, where she attended country school and later graduated from Everly High School in 1940. After high school, she attended a 3 year course at a nursing school at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines through the Cadet Core, graduating in February of 1947. Following her schooling, she worked as a nurse at Hand Hospital in Hartley, where she met her husband to be, Myrl. She then worked at Primghar Hospital/Baum Harmon and Longhouse-Northshire in Spencer.
Cleone married Myrl Farquhar on March 14, 1948 at the Methodist Church in Everly. Throughout their married life, they lived in Sutherland. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was an active member of the Sutherland Methodist Church. Myrl passed away in 1975. Cleone moved to Spencer in 1978, where she worked as a RN for many years until her retirement. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.
She passed away at Longhouse Care Center in Spencer on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at the age of 96. Cleone was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Myrl; a son, Steven; 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: JoAnn & Robert Baumhover of Cheyenne, WY, Paula & Mike Rehder of Round Rock, TX and Paul & Becky Farquhar of Olathe, KS; grandchildren: Katie (John) Nolan, Andy Baumhover, James Baumhover, Charity Rehder, Ben Rehder, Angela Rehder & Dan Rehder; great grandchildren: Annabelle, Brandt & Sivanna Baumhover, Jonah Rehder & Lindy Green; in-law’s: Mildred Klett, Richard Terpstra & Loren Wilson; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
