Clifford Edwin Handy, the son of John and Alice Galbraith Handy was born on September 6, 1936, in Spencer, IA. His childhood years were spent in the Spencer area where he attended Spencer High School until he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1954 Clifford spent 4 years with the Air Force before joining the U.S. Navy. He spent 16 years with the Navy until his Honorable Discharge. After returning to Spencer, Clifford enjoyed working construction with his friend Jerry Stevenson of Stevenson Construction. He enjoyed gambling, bowling, playing cards, going to coffee with friends, and traveling, but his greatest joy was spending time with family, especially his grandkids. Clifford passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at his home in Spencer, at the age of 76. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Darrell and Donald Handy; two sisters, Martha Hollenbeck and Margaret Small; one half-brother, Malcolm Handy; and one nephew, Butch Hollenbeck. Left to cherish his memory are one daughter, Diana (Mike) Felmann of Discovery Bay, CA; 2 grandchildren, Michaela and Alyssa Felmann of Discovery Bay, CA; one brother, Junior (Estelle) Handy of Spencer, IA; Gary Jones of Lake Park, IA, Greg Jones of Spencer, IA; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will take place 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 11, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
