Clifford Froehlich

Clifford Edward Froehlich, the son of Walter and Mary (Thiel) Froehlich was born August 9, 1919 in Cherokee, IA.  His childhood years were spent near Mary Hill, west of Cherokee.  He attended Mary Hill Catholic School until he was 13, when his family moved to Everly, IA.  He graduated Everly High School in 1937, where he was the starting pitcher for the state runner up baseball team.

     Following his schooling, he started working for Farmers Elevator in Everly.  He married Evaline Grendler on September 3, 1940 in Everly, IA. In 1942, they both started working for Hunter Flying Services, an army glider flying school, in Spencer, Iowa and Texas.  They moved to a farm near Everly in 1942, and started farming.  They then moved to a farm near Spencer in 1951 and farmed until 1975.  He was the farm machinery sales person for Shoppers Supply until 1980 and then sold Triple A until his retirement in 1982.  He also sold Northup King Seed until 1990.

     Clifford was active in the community, serving on the Spencer City Council for 8 years and also 8 years on the Board of Adjustment.  He was active in both the Knights of Columbus and Kiwanis.  He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, watching baseball, dancing, and especially spending time with his family.

     Clifford passed away at Northshire Residence on November 15, 2017 at the age of 98.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; 2 brothers, Francis and Norman.

     Left to cherish his memory are his children, Kirby (Diane) Froehlich of Spencer, IA and Klaudia Perry of Rochester, MN; 3 grandchildren, Kim (Adam) Kent of Panora, IA, Jennifer (Matt) Beck of Boise, ID, and Kate Perry of Rochester, MN; 2 great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Kent and Jackson Beck; other relatives and many friends.

SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Friday, November 17, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.

Memorials to Clay County Fair Association.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Funeral Service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
