Constance 'Connie' Williams

September 27, 1932 — October 28, 2016

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Senior Activity Center or the Faith Lutheran Church both in Spencer. Constance 'Connie' Coan Williams, the daughter of Louis and Viola (Mayou) Dehrkoop, was born September 27, 1932 in Hartley, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in the Everly area, where she attended country schools until the 9th grade and later graduated from Everly High School. Connie loved growing up on the farm where she rode horses, showed cattle and raised dogs. After high school graduation, she worked for Ivan Brown, MD in Hartley until she moved to Spencer, when she began working for Doctors Everett & Eunice Christensen. Connie married Paul Kenneth Williams on October 23, 1955 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Everly, where she worked for Globe Machinery while Paul served in the Army overseas. Connie lived her life to the fullest with a smile on her face and kindness toward others. She raised her family and after they were grown, worked part-time as a secretary for Child Support Recovery Unit for many years, until her retirement. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Spencer. Throughout her years, she enjoyed her friends at the Highlands, Lion's Bridge Club, Senior Activity Center, her schoolmates at Everly, her church and especially her family. Connie's greatest joys were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially cheering them on during youth and school sporting events. The family fondly remembers her distinct voice from the crowd! She also enjoyed bowling, playing bridge, casino games, crafts, decorating, NASCAR and collegiate sports. Connie loved her home and her trips with Paul to Florida, Hawaii, Washington DC, Pennsylvania, California and Arizona. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul on October 27, 1996; one brother, Cliff Dehrkoop; and one daughter-in-law, Debbie Williams. Left to cherish her memory are one son, Gary Williams of Tallahassee, FL; two daughters: Julie Williams of Spencer and Shelly (Gaylen) Sindt of Fostoria; 9 grandchildren: Michelle (Woodie) Westbrook, Jenni (Matt) Eisbrener, Laura (Tyler) Johnson, Rosemary Sindt, Katherine Purifoy, Alex (Cayli) Carlson, Cory Peters, Stephanie Carlson, & Garrett Sindt; 4 great grandchildren: David Edmonds, Jacob Westbrook, Maja Edmonds & Easton Carlson; her family including nieces, nephews, brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-laws, other relatives including extended family/friends and her beloved cats Norbie and Taya.
