Courtney Tene Leonard

January 22, 1990 — January 21, 2017

Courtney Tene Leonard, the daughter of Randall and Lisa (Smith) Leonard, was born on January 22, 1990, in Spencer, Iowa. She was raised and received her early education in Spencer, and then attended Okoboji High School in Milford. Following high school, she attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa and Iowa State University. Following college, she returned to Spencer where she worked at Hope Haven as a Client Supervisor, and then a Care Coordinator at Southwest Iowa Family Access Center. Courtney was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and has remained an active member. Courtney enjoyed playing softball, golfing, bowling and canoeing. She liked to attend concerts and Iowa State sporting events. She loved her two cats: Domino and Smokey, and loved to spend time with her family. Courtney was independent, fun loving and had an adventurous spirit. She loved all animals and had a gentle heart. She passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at her home at the age of 26. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ransom and Evelyn Leonard; and one cousin, Mason Leonard. Left to cherish her memory are her parents; grandparents, Joe and Lavonne Smith of Algona, IA; 17 aunts and uncles; 7 great aunts and uncles; numerous cousins; other relatives and many, many friends.

SERVICES

Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, January 27, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name.

VISITATION

Visitation will begin after 1:00 P.M., Thursday, with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
