Curtis Allen Ness

     Curtis Allen Ness, 60, of Spencer, passed away in the hospital surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. Curtis Allen Ness was born on August 1st, 1961 to Ruth and Alfred Ness in Spencer, IA. His childhood years were spent in Spencer, where he received his education and graduated from Spencer High School in 1980. Curtis held multiple truck driving jobs prior to starting employment for Morton Buildings in 1997 where he grew his career for 24 years.

     His sister, Kathy, took him to his first drag race in 1971 which started his love for racing. He helped work on cars for many drivers over the years. His all time favorite race families were the Cressman Family and the Shark Racing team. He had many of his best days working on cars and watching races with them as well as his own family. When Curtis and Rosanne signed their marriage certificate on April 11th,2008 they signed it on a stack of right rear racing tires at the Cressman's race shop, to include what they loved most on their special day. His favorite memories were made at race tracks across the country with his wife, children, grandchildren, and closest family friends. Whether it were in the stands or the pits, the campsite, or the dinner table, Curtis always kept racing the centerpiece of his world. 

     Left to cherish his memory is his father Alfred Ness, his sister Kathy Mackie and her husband Larry Mackie; his wife Rosanne Ness Norlin, his son Joshua Griffin, his son John Ness and his wife Katy, his son Joshua Ness and his wife Katie, his daughter Cheyenne Voss, his daughter Autumn Norlin, his daughter Kinser Ness. Curtis was also survived by his many grandchildren: Keith, Emmersen, Kaylee, Summer, Eion, Jayce, Rowan, Landen, Kaydence, Sofia, Elizabeth; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mom Ruth and 3 brothers Gary, Larry and Roger Ness.
