Dale Allen Scharnberg, the son of Thomas and Eliza Zaiser Scharnberg, was born July 23, 1919 in Everly, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in the Everly area, where he received his education, graduating from Everly High School. Following his schooling, he entered the military and served with the U.S. Army during WWII from August of 1941, until his honorable discharge in March of 1946.
Dale married Arlene Petersen on September 7, 1942 in Bennettsville, SC. Following their marriage, they lived in several areas including Ft. Bragg and Ft. Sill, OK, where Dale was in the military. Following his military discharge, they moved to the Everly area, where they farmed for many years. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Everly. He was also a member of the Everett Boyles, Jr. Post #414, American Legion of Everly, Iowa. Dale enjoyed fishing in his spare time.
Dale passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Sunday, April 19, 2009 at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Arlene on December 30, 2003.
Left to cherish his memory are one son, Mark Scharnberg, and his wife, Cathi of Everly, Iowa; his two daughters: Joanne Gabrielson and her husband, Greg, of Luverne, MN and Janelle Scharnberg of Apple Valley, MN; four grandchildren: Todd, Kirsten, Neil and Andrew; 4 great grandchildren: Savannah, Brooklynn, Will and Reegan; one sister, Phyllis Kunzman of Spencer, IA; a special niece, Marcia Petersen Christy; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, with the family present from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday night at the Warner Funeral Home in Everly.
