Dale Coval Darnell

Dale Coval Darnell, the son of Jay and Helen Way Darnell was born April 13, 1929, in Dunning, NE. His childhood years were spent in the Black Hills where he attended school, graduating from Custer High School. He lived in Holstein, IA and Sioux City, IA, before moving to Spencer, IA in 1954. Dale married Patricia Hickmon in Sioux City, IA, until her passing away in 1968. He married Madeline Kay Hutchison in Denver, CO, on August 14, 1980. Dale owned and operated Spencer TV Repair Service from 1955-1969, he was Assistant Engineer for KICD for 10 years, an Electronic Technician for Eaton's for 13 years, and ran Darnell Photography until his retirement in 1991. He enjoyed woodworking and electronics. Dale was a Boy Scout Leader, a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer, Past President of Eagle's, and a Ham Operator for 40 years. Dale passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014, at Longhouse Residence in Spencer, IA, at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons: Marvin and Ronald Darnell; one brother, Jay Darnell; three sisters: Mildred Miller, Mary Getz, and Reba Darnell. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kay of Spencer; 3 children: Jerry (Betty) Darnell of Sheldon, IA, Fawn (Steve) Mefferd of Mitchellville, IA, and Jeff (Melanie) Darnell of Gore, OK; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 17 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
