Dale LeRoy Funk, the son of James and Joanne (Solberg) Funk, was born November 20, 1959, in New Ulm, Minnesota. His childhood years were spent in the St. James, Minnesota area where he attended school.
Dale moved to Texas where he met and married Gayle Delzer in August of 1983. They had three children together: Josh, Kyle, and Megan. They later divorced. He moved to Superior, Nebraska, where he worked selling ultralight airplanes and giving flying lessons. In 2004, he moved to Cherokee where he started driving truck for Hy-Vee, and had a daughter, Clara in 2007.
Dale enjoyed riding his motorcycle, flying planes, watching NASCAR, he was a true adrenaline junky, and mostly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially Clara and his grandchildren.
Dale passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at his home at the age of 59. He was preceded in death by his father, James; grandparents, Carl and Clara Funk, and Emil and Berdine Solberg.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Joanne Funk, of Cold Spring, MN; his four children: Josh (Laura) Funk of Melvin, IA, Kyle (Jade) Funk of Byron, MN, Megan (Kenny) Bluemer of Ft. Leonard, MO, and Clara Funk of Calumet, IA; seven grandchildren: Beau, Marissa, Kya, Taylor, Marley, Jaxson, and Gracie; one brother, Craig (Nancy) Funk of Clear Lake, MN; one sister, Susan (Keith) Heinlein of Mayer, MN; one niece, Andrea; two nephews, Jack and Chad; other relatives and many friends.
