Dale Marvin Brower, WWII Navy flight instructor officially went “off duty” at 2:10 P.M., Saturday, November 25, 2017.  Dale was born to Marie and Gerritt Brower on March 16, 1922 in Plessis, Iowa. He was 95 ½ y/o soul.  Dale’s heart simply “wore out”.

Simply put it would be hard to find a more productive human being than Dale Brower.  He was a master in the realms of aviation, automotive, agriculture, and had a PhD in “life”.  He rebuilt numerous airplanes, cars, and machinery.  He taught the Navy Fly Boys how to fly.  He had a private and commercial pilots rating as well as an “A & P” license.  Dale built a hanger and private airstrip on the 400 acre farm west of Royal.  One of his major accomplishments was rebuilding a 1946 Fairchild 24 which won numerous awards at EAA aircraft shows in Ottumwa, IA and Oshkosh, WI.

Dale married Maxine Lynn in Sutherland on June 12, 1946 and they became quite successful grain farm operators from 1946 to 1985 when he and his wife, Maxine, retired and became Arizona “snowbirds” during the winters.  It was during those retirement years he became quite the “pool shark” and served as the “pool coordinator” at Towerpoint Resort in Mesa, AZ.

Dale passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at St. Luke Lutheran Home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Lynn who passed away in 2003.

Dale had three offspring to carry on his legacy:  Steven Dale Brower (Mary Buchanan) of CA, Michael Lynn Brower of CO, Cheryl Brower Berkel (Gerald Berkel) of AZ. His grandchildren: Michelle Brower Mitchell (Doug Mitchell) of IA, Greg Berkel (Nikki Berkel) of AZ. His great grandchildren: Casey Brower (Ana Brower) of IA, Haylie Gillis of IA, and Ayden Berkel of AZ.
