Dale Robert James son of Carl and Adra (Litton) James was born on July 21st, 1934 in Fort Dodge Iowa. Dale attended grade school in Ruthven before moving to Lineville Ia. When Dale was able to drive, he returned to Ruthven to find his grade school sweetheart (Clara Hancock). Dale and Clara were united in marriage October 23rd, 1954 in Jackson Mn., from this union 2 daughters were born, Cindy and Daleen.
Dale spent his early years working various jobs including brakeman for the Illinois Central Railroad. Soon after marriage Dale began work at Spencer Municipal Utilities and continued for 36 years until retirement. Dale and Clara also owned and continue to operate Grandview Park at Lost Island Lake a family owned resort since 1910. With early retirement and an Iowa summer business this allowed them to spend the winters in south Texas and for the last 15 years in the Branson Mo. area. While in south Texas they spent several years helping with the South Texas Music Festival which gave them the opportunity to meet several country music artists. Dale also enjoyed the numerous “Jams” they attended or hosted at their place for over 25 years, both in south Texas and in the Branson area.
Dale enjoyed fishing, traveling and most recently he enjoyed teasing the nurses at the numerous hospital stays and at Accura Healthcare of Milford. He also enjoyed doing puzzles and left the biggest puzzle for his family, his large key chain that he always carried. But most of all Dale loved spending
time with his family, the many cook-outs, birthday parties, taking the grandchildren for rides on the golf cart and watching and giving advice to his great granddaughter Madisen on raising chickens.
